PBIS Reward: Beach Day Lunch

MAES Pre-K - Wednesday, Jan 26th & Thursday, Jan 27th
MAES K-4 - Friday, Jan 21st.
When spotted, students demonstrating good behavior will earn a "shield".
The shields are placed on the LARGE shield in the cafeteria.
When the LARGE shield gets completely filled ... the entire school earns a reward!

We had lots of fun eating mini corn dogs, fruit, and Sun Chips
on our beach towels!
THANK YOU ... Ms. Shelly & Mr. Miller

PBIS: Shield Walk with Mr. Miller

PBIS: Positive Behavioral Intervention & Support

PBIS is a 'prevention-oriented' way for schools to maximize academic and social
behavior outcomes for students.
PBIS supports the success of ALL students.

We have learned a great deal about the rules in school.
You might find, while walking around the school,
shields with various school rules on them.
Mr. Miller took the Pre-K students for a walk and discussed
how to keep our school safe.

Dinosaurs (Weeks of Jan 25th - Feb 3rd)

Our theme this week is “Dinosaurs”.  We will be learning many fascinating facts about these extinct animals.  We will be going to the Broadway Theater next week, Monday and Tuesday, to watch “Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs”!

If you have not yet paid the $3.00 please do so before the end of the week.

Our letter for the week is “Dd”.  Please take time to review the sound of “Dd” with your child and think of words together that start with “Dd”.  Continue to review the numbers 1-10 by practice printing, recognizing, and counting objects around your home with your child.  Thank you to those parents who help their child practice printing his/her name at home. J  We are seeing a lot of improvement at school.  Remember that we use the D’Nealian style of handwriting.

The Past Few Months in Pre-K

Here is a sneak peek into our last few months of school.

    When I grow up ...

I am reminded everyday why I am a teacher. Today our "Big Cheese" (student of the week) was sharing her poster. When we got to the part about "I want to be a _________ when I grow up," she said a teacher! I simply asked her why did she want to be a teacher and she replied, "Well because you are a teacher."

:-) Precious moments I will never forget.

Family Game Night (Week of Jan 17th)

Our theme this week is “Games”.  We will be playing many games throughout the week.  A great way to have fun with your child is to have a family game night! There are many wonderful games that help make learning fun. Chutes & Ladders and Hi-Ho Cherry-o are great for working on counting.  Candy Land helps with learning colors. UNO helps with learning numbers and matching.  See what other fun games you might have at home.

    Calling All Parents!

    Dear Parents,
Blogging is a wonderful tool that will create another avenue for building communication between school and home. Feel free to post questions, comments, etc. I will work hard to continue to revise and update this blog to keep things current. Let me know what you think!

    First Time Blogger!

A new year and a new change in my life.
This weekend I started my master's program in Educational Technology. An exciting change but slightly nerve racking. I am in my second year of teaching total. I am also getting married this coming June. A lot on my plate but I am up for the challenge! :-)
